About AEO Radar
AEO Radar is a free Answer Engine Optimization scanner. It audits a website's readiness to be found, understood, and cited by AI search — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews, and the next ten that show up.
Why AEO matters
Classic SEO tools were built for the Google-search-results-page era — they check title tags, meta descriptions, page speed, and backlink count. Those still matter, but they miss the new layer of signals AI answer engines actually use: llms.txt and ai.txt manifests, AI-crawler permissions in robots.txt, citation-ready schema markup, structured FAQ patterns, methodology pages, and the structural cues that make a passage extractable as a citation rather than ignored.
When ChatGPT or Perplexity answers a question, the cited sources are the sites that got that layer right. AEO Radar exists to surface where you are and aren't on that layer, in one 30-second scan.
What the scanner checks
AEO Radar runs the following audits on any public URL:
- llms.txt and ai.txt — presence, structure, and whether they explicitly grant access to AI training crawlers.
- AI crawler permissions in robots.txt — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, Google-Extended, and others.
- Citation-ready schema — Article, FAQPage, HowTo, BreadcrumbList, Organization. The patterns AI engines preferentially extract.
- SEO fundamentals — title length, meta description, canonical URL, sitemap presence, hreflang, mobile viewport.
- Security headers — HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options. Trust signals AI engines and Google both weight.
How we use scan data
We don't. Scans are anonymous — we keep only the submitted URL, a hashed prefix of your IP for rate-limiting, and the timestamp. Nothing about a scan is shared, sold, or used to train any model. See the privacy policy for the full data handling description.
Independent and small
AEO Radar is operated by an independent operator. There's no venture funding to appease, no SEO suite to upsell. The free scanner stays free. If we ship a paid tier later, it'll be for continuous monitoring, batch scans, or workflow integration — never to wall off the basic scan.
